On regions` transfer to the first stage of Digital Terrestrial TV and Radio Broadcasting

To date, activities are held to implement the first stage of transfer to Digital Terrestrial TV and Radio Broadcasting in Mangistau, Zhambyl and Turkestan regions and in Shymkent.

In Mangistau region (transfer on October 15, 2018) the implementation of Digital Terrestrial TV and Radio Broadcasting infrastructure is completed, 21 Radio and TV Stations have been built and 48 localities with population of 600 thousand people have been covered   (about 99% of population). The region has 14 localities located beyond the Digital Terrestrial TV and Radio Broadcasting coverage (total population is less than 5 thousand people) and for 100% they are covered by the digital TV.

Chinese origin DVB-T2 receivers` sales points are organized in Mangistau region (4 manufacturers) with an average cost from KZT 3.5 to 5 thousand as well as Russian D-Color ones with an average cost from KZT 3.5 to 10 thousand. 

The region has 158 families that are in need of obtaining free-of-charge TV subscriber units.    

The regional mass media has published 118 materials on the region`s transfer to Digital Terrestrial TV and Radio Broadcasting and a regional TV channel features 4 videos that are repeated twice a day. Spots are allocated in the region to place 39 billboards the drafts of which are on the stage of production and installation. 

In Turkestan region (transfer on December 31, 2018) 79 out of 80 Radio and TV Stations (RTS) have been built and modernized. The construction of the last RTS in Ibata village will be completed in November 2018.  860 localities with population of over 2.4 million people (98%) are encompassed. Pursuant to the visit results, in average 90% of households receive satellite digital TV broadcasting in 20 localities beyond the Digital Terrestrial TV and Radio Broadcasting coverage area. Sales points are organized to sale DVB-T2 receivers with an average cost of KZT 3-5 thousand.

Currently, 27.509 families in the region obtain targeted social assistance out of which 26.689 families are in need for free-of-charge TV top boxes. The regional akimat plans to provide TV top boxes to 820 families that are left by the end of the year. 

Shymkent  (transfer on December 31, 2018)   

In Shymkent, 3.516 families obtain targeted social assistance out of which 132 families are provided with free-of-charge top boxes.   

The regional mass media has published 114 materials, including 26 in printed mass media, 21 in electronic mass media and 20 on web-resources.

In Zhambyl region (transfer from December 31, 2018) the implementation of Digital Terrestrial TV and Radio Broadcasting infrastructure is completed, 42 Radio and TV Stations have been built. Over 380 localities with population of over 1 million people (99%) are covered.   6 localities which do not have Digital Terrestrial TV and Radio Broadcasting have over 95% coverage of digital TV.

Currently, 8975 families obtain targeted social assistance out of which 2344 families are in need for free of charge TV top boxes. Akimat plans to allocate KZT 15 million out of the local budget to provide the families with top boxes. Sales points are organized to sale DVB-T2 receivers with an average cost of KZT 3,5-5 thousand.
